Dark Circles Contemporary Dance was founded in 2010 in Seoul, South Korea. The Company's Dallas-based branch—led by internationally award-winning choreographer and Dance Magazine “25 to Watch," Joshua L. Peugh—has been hailed as “the area’s most exciting dance company” (Star-Telegram) and as the "Best Dance Company" by D Magazine and Dallas Observer. Since its inception, the company has performed nationally and internationally at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, Theater am Aegi (Germany), Seoul Arts Center (South Korea), and at the Ailey Citigroup Theater (New York), among others. Our mission is three-fold: to create and perform innovative and excellent contemporary dance; to craft and curate inspiring, accessible dance work; and to educate the public about the power of movement in the performance, communication, and transformative power of art. It is our hope that audiences appreciate and delight in our work, but leave the theatre with a thoughtful consideration of and questions about the depths of our humanity reflecting on the many ways we connect, interact, and react with one another.
