Arts Lab Desert Peaks offers an immersive two-week workshop for 14 professional and pre-professional dancers, ages 18+, in the beautiful desert landscape of the Mesilla Valley.

The program allows artists to participate in a creation process with in-demand choreographer JOSHUA L. PEUGH, train with Boston Dance Theater Founder and Co-Artistic Director JESSIE JEANNE STINNETT, learn repertory, and develop individual artistry while building a professional community that promotes growth and self-reflection.

The program includes an optional hike into The Organ Mountains and a White Sands National Park visit.

The two-week creation process will end with a free and open-to-the-public informal showing on the outdoor stage at Plaza de Las Cruces. Participants will receive free footage of the final showing.

Arts Lab Desert Peaks brought me forever friends and collaborators. The artists I met the year I attended hold a very special and specific place in my heart. Beyond experiencing beautiful movement, Arts Lab Desert Peaks is the perfect place to run away to— to explore, heal, meet amazing people and soak up the hot Las Cruces sun.

Her choreographic work has been described by Hannah Chanatry of WBUR as “conceptually driven performance that unpacks the complexities of being female, and pushes the academic boundaries of choreography” and has been sustained in part by grants from National Endowment for the Arts, The MAP Fund, supported by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, Howard Gilman Foundation, and Mellon Foundation, NH State Council for the Arts, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, The Boston Foundation with support from The Barr Foundation, New England Foundation for the Arts, Assets4Artists at MASS MoCA, and Fidelity Charitable.
